Care of the Older Person

Course aim
This 4 day course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to provide care for the older person in a variety of settings.

Who should apply
Anyone interested in providing care to the older person.

Course content
The course will provide you with a comprehensive knowledge and skills to care for the older person.

There are four units of study:
Unit 1: Ageing Process
Unit 2: Working with the Older Person
Unit 3: Caring for the Older Person with Specific Needs
Unit 4: Care Settings

Learners who successfully complete this module will:

• Demonstrate good work practices in the provision of individualised holistic care for older people
• Understand the concept of the ageing process
• Be able to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of settings
• Enhance the quality of life of the older person

Course certification
This course will be run as a FETAC Certified course.
Following successful completion you will receive a FETAC Level 5 Award in Care of the Older Person (D20180).
The Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) is the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland. New Approach Training is registered with FETAC to offer programmes leading to FETAC awards in the National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland.
