Heartsaver AED

Course aim
This half-day Heartsaver AED course is a comprehensive course for the lay responder, which is essential for those expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace, or in sporting environments.

Who should apply
Anyone interested in becoming more competent in responding to emergencies in the workplace and/or sporting environment.

Course contents
There are six units of study:

• Scene Assessment
• Use of Infection Barrier Devices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Adults and Children
• CPR
• AED
• Choking

Learners who successfully complete this course will:

• Recognise Cardiac Arrest
• Perform CPR
• Use an AED
• Recognise Choking and Treatment

Course certification
This course is accredited by both the Irish Heart Foundation and American Heart Association
All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED and this certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.
